Dr Linda Rabeneck
MD MPH FRCPC Dr Linda Rabeneck is a gastroenterologist and clinician scientist who has served for the past 5 years as Vice President, Prevention and Cancer Control at Cancer Care Ontario, where she is accountable for the provincial screening programs. She is Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Chair of the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee.
Dr Rabeneck received her medical degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, followed by post-graduate training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at UBC and the University of Toronto. She received her Master’s degree in Public Health from Yale University, where she trained as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar (1988-90). Dr. Rabeneck served on the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine and practiced at the Houston VA (1990-2002) before she was recruited back to Canada to become Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Toronto (2002-05). Dr Rabeneck played a leadership role in launching ColonCancerCheck in Ontario, Canada’s first organized, province-wide colorectal cancer screening program. She leads an active research program focusing on the quality and effectiveness of colorectal cancer screening and has authored more than 200 peer reviewed publications. She currently serves as an Associate Editor, Gastroenterology and is President-Elect, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. |
